അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ ഭൂചലനം; മരണം 1000 കടന്നു; വന്നാശനഷ്ടം, 1500 പേര്ക്ക് പരുക്ക്
കാബൂൾ∙ അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിൽ 6.1 തീവ്രത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഭൂചലനത്തിൽ 950 പേര് കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടു. 600 ലധികം ആളുകള്ക്കു പരുക്കേറ്റു. തെക്ക്-കിഴക്കൻ നഗരമായ ഖോസ്റ്റിൽ നിന്ന് 44 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഭൂചലനം ഉണ്ടായത്. മരണസംഖ്യ ഇനിയും ഉയർന്നേക്കുമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു. ഭൂരിഭാഗം മരണങ്ങളും പക്ടിക പ്രവിശ്യയിലാണ്. കിഴക്കൻ പ്രവിശ്യകളായ നംഗർഹാർ, ഖോസ്റ്റ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും മരണം റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഖോസ്റ്റ്, പക്ടിക പ്രവിശ്യകളിൽ നിരവധി വീടുകളും കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും തകർന്നു. പക്ടികയിൽ 90 വീടുകൾ തകർന്നെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ട്. നിരവധി ആളുകൾ അവശിഷ്ടങ്ങൾക്കടിയിൽ കുടുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നെന്നാണ് വിവരം. പക്ടികയിൽ കുടുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്ന ആളുകളെ ഹെലികോപ്റ്റർ വഴിയാണ് രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്. ഖോസ്റ്റ് പ്രവിശ്യയിൽ 25 പേർ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുകയും 95 പേർക്ക് പരുക്കേൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതായി പ്രദേശിക അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു.

അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ കാബൂളിലും ഭൂചലനത്തിന്റെ പ്രകമ്പനം ഉണ്ടായി. കൂടാതെ പാക്കിസ്ഥാന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ ഇസ്ലാമാബാദ്, മുൽത്താൻ, ക്വറ്റ തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും പ്രകമ്പനം ഉണ്ടായി. ഈ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ വീടുകൾക്കും കെട്ടിടങ്ങൾക്കും നാശമുണ്ടായതാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ട്.
